Our standard
This website, the agency tools, the BeforeYouBurn resident pages and the embeddable badges are built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
What that means in practice
- Every page on this site works without JavaScript, with a keyboard and with a screen reader.
- Text can be enlarged to the largest phone text sizes without the page scrolling sideways.
- Colour is never the only way information is shown: statuses always carry text and an icon.
- Agency screens may use JavaScript for convenience, but the safety actions (closing burning, cancelling a closure and posting an advisory) are plain forms that work without it.
- Every page is checked with automated accessibility tests before release.
Known limitations
Automated tests do not find every problem. If something does not work for you, we want to know.
Report a problem
Email support@publicfiresafety.com with the page address and what went wrong. We will reply and tell you how we will fix it. A conformance report (VPAT) for the agency tools is available on request.
