Burn-status tools for fire agencies
Residents get one answer for their address, combined from every agency that covers it, and the most restrictive rule always wins. Your agency stays the authority. PublicFireSafety publishes your decisions; it never opens or closes burning on its own.
What your agency gets
Status Control
Close or reopen burning, post an advisory or schedule a closure from a phone. Every safety action is a plain form that works without JavaScript, and every change is recorded.
Registrations workspace
See the burns registered in your area, including presumed burns on the day, with the contact details your responders need. Filter, search and export.
Badges for your website
Show live burn status on your own site with a badge that needs no script and meets WCAG 2.1 AA. Badge snippets already on agency websites keep working.
Feeds for dispatch and GIS
A burn feed per agency in JSON and CSV for Intterra, ArcGIS and other dispatch tools, protected by a token you can rotate or revoke. Your agency opts in.
Notifications
Residents with a planned burn get a courtesy "do not burn" notice when your status closes, by text, email or app. Your agency is told about new registrations.
One answer for residents
Fire districts, counties, state forestry departments and air-quality agencies can all have burning rules for the same address. When a resident checks on BeforeYouBurn, the platform asks every agency that covers that point and returns one outcome: Allowed, Not allowed, Contact agency or Unknown. If any authority says no, the answer is no. If an area is not set up, the answer is Unknown and the resident is sent to the agency, never shown green by default.
Each answer names the agency and the reason, so residents know who decided and who to call.
Your rules, published once
You set zones, seasons, alerts and fire danger once. The same decision reaches the BeforeYouBurn website, the mobile app, text messages, the badges on partner websites and the feeds your dispatch center reads.
Free for residents, everywhere
Residents never pay to check the status or register a burn, and resident registration is available in every area on every plan. Agency plans only change the tools your staff use.
